It’s hard to appreciate the value of small 28mm (35mm equiv.) pancake lens until you actually try it. A lot of people swear by this focal length for street photography. I just love that wrap around look of a wide angle when you get close. This focal length is also a great length for achieving a balance of wide angle effect and lack of distortion.
Various reviews state that this lens is best as f/4 – f/5.6. My experience matches that, at this aperture range this lens is tack-sharp!
What makes this lens absolutely fantastic is the image quality matched with portability. Mounted on a Panasonic GF-3, the camera (as a whole) is the size of a large point & shoot. Having a pocketable camera with image quality that matches a DSLR means you can get places you’d never dream about.
What really blows me away is that for NZ$300 you get a lens that easily matches or beats full-frame 28mm primes. Micro four-thirds has some really good things going for it!
