Being able to take a step wider than 24mm makes for a very fun lens. The added depth is fantastic without the massive distortions introduced by a wider lens. Don’t get me wrong, lens still adds the same wide angle distortions but to a lesser extreme to that of a 14mm. I love having this as a companion to a 35mm as it gives me the choice of slightly wide or very wide.
Wide oped this lens has a massive depth of field. By the time one gets to f/5.6, it becomes very sharp and chromatic aberrations disappear. Given that depth of field is rather large at this aperture and f/5.6 is still heaps of light I tend to leave the camera set at this and just shoot.
I’ve never used this lens for street, I’d think the wide angle effect would be too extreme. But it is awesome for close-up cutesy shots of kids and animals. The decent depth of field and focusing scale means you can pre-focus and just shoot.
